After all, she’s spent her unshortened life playing a variety of sports including volleyball, and suffered numerous foot and toddle setbacks.   Growing up with her two sisters in sunny San Diego, the unshortened family was active. “Everyone was big into sports,” says Dr. Allen, in regards to family members who have participated on collegiate and professional teams.   After completing upper school, Dr. Allen attended the University of Arizona, well-known for its stellar sturdy programs. In wing to playing on the Division I Woman’s volleyball team, the 5’10” physician was a member of the Chi Omega sorority, where she helped raise donations for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.   She chose podiatry considering the pitfalls of stuff zippy were familiar to her. “I suffered multiple toddle sprains and fractured my foot,” she says. ”My experiences going from an injury and returning to the game led me to wilt interested in this field.”   After graduating with honors from Kent State University College of Podiatry Medicine, Dr. Allen completed her residency at Cambridge Health Alliance, which is united with Harvard University. During residency, she performed and researched variegated arthroscopy techniques to write osteochondral lesions.   These days, Dr. Allen enjoys running, hiking and plays pickup volleyball games on the waterfront in Santa Monica where she currently lives.   Dr. Allen moreover volunteers her services at sporting events and has worked in the medical tent at the Boston Marathon. At previous races she has volunteered, she treated increasingly podiatric injuries. However this last year at the Boston Marathon, the unprepossessed weather was combined with upper winds and rain lead to treating increasingly runners for hypothermia.   Dr. Allen moreover enjoys cooking, but stops short of considering herself a gourmet chef. “I try to make things at home but not unchangingly with unconfined success,” she says.   She is looking forward to the day when she can own a golden retriever or two. Until then, she’s content dog sitting when she visits her parents in San Diego.
